Overview

speckt Labs LLC ("speckt", "we", "our") operates the speckt platform, a software platform for automotive dealerships. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. It applies to dealership staff who use the platform and vehicle owners who receive inspection videos.

For Vehicle Owners

If you received an inspection video from your dealership, speckt delivers it on their behalf. We are the technology provider, not the dealership.

Information your dealership provided to us:

  • Your name and contact information
  • Your vehicle information
  • Inspection findings and recommended services

Information we collect when you view your inspection:

  • IP address and timestamps
  • Your approval or decline decisions (logged with your IP address for record-keeping)

We use this information solely to deliver your inspection and communicate your decisions back to your dealership. We do not use it for marketing or advertising.

For Dealership Staff

When you create an account, we collect your name and email. The mobile app uses your device camera to record inspection videos. The camera is only active when you start a recording.

How We Use Your Information

  • To operate the inspection platform and deliver videos
  • To send inspection links via SMS and email
  • To parse inspection documents and generate video narration using AI
  • To improve our service

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We use third-party service providers including cloud hosting, messaging, AI processing, video processing, and error monitoring services. They only access data as needed to provide their services.

Data Retention

Video and audio files are retained for the duration of the dealership's account. Customer access links expire after 30 days, after which the inspection page will no longer be accessible. SMS delivery logs and opt-out records are retained for legal compliance. You may request deletion of your data at any time.

SMS Communications

speckt collects mobile phone numbers from customers of partner dealerships for the purpose of sending transactional SMS messages related to vehicle service inspections (typically 1-2 messages per service visit). Phone numbers are collected with the customer's express consent at the dealership's service intake or via our intake page. Customers may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; we record the opt-out and prevent future messages. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in data will not be sold, rented, or shared with any third parties for marketing purposes. SMS data is used solely to deliver transactional inspection notifications on behalf of the dealership that collected the consent.

We log message delivery status for reliability and compliance auditing. When you submit consent through our intake page, we record the following on the consent record as part of the audit trail required for telecom-carrier compliance and TCPA defensibility:

  • Your first and last name
  • Your mobile phone number
  • The IP address of the device used to submit consent
  • The browser/device identifier (user-agent string)
  • The timestamp of submission
  • The version of the consent disclosure shown to you
  • The dealership location that captured the consent

This data is retained alongside the consent record and is not shared externally except as required by law. We may also send transactional emails containing your inspection link and related service information.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what data we hold and to request its deletion.
